Book Review: Up Close and Personal by J.S. Taylor

Contemporary Erotica

Actress and director. The stage is set for passion...

Drama-school graduate Isabella Green wants to be a script-writer. But when she meets famous director James Berkeley, she’s tempted into the glamorous world of acting.

Behind the camera, the mysterious Berkeley commands discipline at all times. But Isabella soon discovers his dominant male tendencies also extend into the dressing room.

Suddenly Isabella is discovering a side of herself she never knew existed. But she is also learning more about the alluring James Berkeley. Is his desperate past something she can help heal? Or will the flames of passion consume them both when the cameras start rolling?

Lights, camera, action...

My Review:

So What can I say? I'm a sucker for the innocent girl who gets tangled up with a much more experienced man who's emotions are hard to read and has a weakness for her for a reason even he doesn't understand. Yes, just like the author says, readers of 50 shades and the like will definitely love this story.

The major difference? J.S. Taylor manages to keep with the theme while adding in her own unique story line. I love the fact that Isabella is an aspiring screen-writer who is on an audition she does not expect to get the part for. This is just something to appease a friend. But when she meets Berkeley who is just supposed to be a financial part of the movie and not actually handle the casting. The chemistry between the two is palpable from the beginning.

I personally loved the fact that Berkeley was married and Isabella had to wade through her emotions about that and see if he was telling her the truth about the marriage being that of a publicity only one.

Berkeley is very dominant and knows what he wants and even knows what Isabella wants when she's not sure herself. This story is left unfinished like others of its kind. We know Berkeley has secrets, but have really had no light shed on them as of yet. I can not wait to see what the next one has to bring.
